Mohammad Taheri, M.D. attended medical school at the Universidad Complutense (UCM) de Madrid. Here he got his Medical Doctorate. He then went on to an internship at Harrisburg Hospital. Dr. Taheri accepted a Fellowship in Nutrition at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 2007. This was followed by a Fellowship at the University of Manitoba.
He says the fellowship is one of the highlights of his career. That experience gave him the opportunity to train with leaders in the industry. It also established a foundation for his success in San Antonio.
Dr. Taheri is one of the few trained in a procedure known as ERCP. This is a specialized technique used to diagnose disease in the bile ducts. It’s also used to diagnose disease in the pancreatic duct and gallbladder.
He has been involved in multiple studies throughout his career. He has also published many articles on topics about gastro.
When asked what he likes most about practicing medicine, Dr. Taheri says that ERCP is one of his favorite procedures. However, his patients bring him the greatest joy. He says, “I see each person I treat not as a patient, but as a fellow human being whose wellbeing is the most important thing.”
