Gastroenterologist
Firstly, Shailesh Kadakia, M.D. began his career in medicine due to the urging of his father, who then instilled high hopes in each of his children. As a result, Dr. Kadakia then found his calling in medicine and more particularly, gastroenterology, which is a field that he has now come to appreciate. Consequently, this is because of its diverse nature. “I get to interact with wonderful patients” he then says, “and perform procedures that help diagnose and treat a variety of diseases and conditions.”
Furthermore, before Dr. Kadakia settled into private practice, he then went on to complete his residency in Internal Medicine at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Boston. After this, he then went on to complete his Fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. After this, his career then took him to San Francisco, and finally to San Antonio, where he served as the department chair at the Brooke Army Medical Center for more than 30 years. Consequently, this was a job that then included training fellows and publishing more than 50 peer-reviewed articles that were then on important topics in gastrointestinal medicine.
When he was then asked what he loves most about practicing medicine, Dr. Kadakia then goes on to say, “Educating my patients. Teaching them how to take care of their health, prevent disease, and embrace a lifestyle that will always ensure the best quality of life.”
Finally, when he finds a little time for himself, he likes to hike and explore this nation’s national parks. In addition, he loves to take trips to around the globe. Lastly, some of his favorite places include India, Thailand, Mexico, and Hawaii.
